Issue/Introduction

  • This issue was noticed on the NSX federation setup, where the compute manager is well connected on GM, but not on LM.
  • This issue was reported on LM during an upgrade to VCF 4.5.2, where the upgrade failed, and the vCenter snapshot was subsequently reverted on the VCF environment.
  • On NSX UI, the error messages would keep toggling when you try to resolve the issue from NSX UI.
Error message 1: Registration Status Message: "Compute Manager <vCenter FQDN> registration failed because of Deletion of extension at CM <vCenter FQDN>."
Error message 2: Resolving "Error message 1" results in the following error message" Compute Manager <vCenter FQDN> registration failed because of Compute Manager  <vCenter FQDN> is already registered with other NSX Manager  <nsx manger IP:443>.

Environment

VMWare NSX-T Data Center.

Cause

This is caused by a stale entry object of the vCenter extension."com.vmware.nsx.management.nsxt" . since the same object is already registered to the same LM, NSX started reporting error.
