Issue/Introduction

vSAN Skyline health is indicating an error for HOST COMPLIANCE CHECK FOR HYPERCONVERGED CLUSTER CONFIGURATION with Recommendation of Invoke "Configure services" wizard to apply the hyperconverged cluster configuration to the host

Initiating the configure option in the Quickstart wizard to configure the host does not resolve the issue

Environment

vSAN (all versions)

Cause

A host that has been in the vSAN cluster was removed from the cluster in vCenter, or had changes made to configuration outside of the Quickstart wizard.

Resolution

The workaround for the issue is silencing the alarm.

The issue can be resolved by the following steps:

  1. Place the host into maintenance mode
  2. Remove the from the vSAN cluster
  3. Remove all network configuration except for management on a standard switch
  4. Remove the host from vCenter inventory by right clicking on the host and choosing remove from inventory
  5. Use the Quickstart wizard to add the host back into inventory and configure

Additional Information

Note: Quickstart will not complete configuration for added hosts if any host remains in the cluster that is failing configuration.  If the cluster has production running on it make sure the hosts that need to be placed in to maintenance mode will not impact production in any way. If it will a maintenance window will need to be scheduled for down time before proceeding.
