SNMP polling to NSX Edge fails

Issue/Introduction

  • SNMP Manager fails to poll NSX Edge
  • SNMP traps are not sent to SNMP Managers.
  • Result of the command "get service snmp" shows state is stopped.
  • /var/log/syslog  says snmpd fails to allocate memory.
    <TIMESTAMP> <HOSTNAME> snmpd <number> - -  <number>:load_pci: mmap(-1) failed, Cannot allocate memory
    <TIMESTAMP> <HOSTNAME> snmpd <number> - -  <number>:parse_vendor: vendor id '<vendor_id>' not found in file /usr/share/hwdata/pci.ids, no vendor/device description
    <TIMESTAMP> <HOSTNAME> snmpd <number> - -  <number>:load_pci_info: no pci device info found for nic: eth0

Environment

NSX-T Data Center 3.x

Resolution

This issue is resolved in NSX-T Data Center 3.2.4, and VMware NSX 4.1.2., available at Broadcom downloads.

To start SNMP service, run command start service snmp.
