"Service Unavailable / Task with ID <UUID> not found", Major upgrade prechecks fails on Upgrade Planner on 80 U2 & 80 U3 vCenter Servers

Issue/Introduction

• Upgrade Planner major upgrade prechecks fails with any of below error messages:

Service Unavailable.

Task with ID <UUID> not found.

Environment

vCenter Server with vLCM plugin at 8.0 U2 and 8.0 U3 (until 8.0 U3e)

Resolution

Update the custom URL to have to entitlement token & append the target version to the end of URL by following below steps:

• Get the download token by following the KB Article - https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/390098#download_token.
• Update the Custom URL on VAMI UI for the target version
  • Login into VAMI.
  • Go to the Updates section
  • Click on Settings & select the custom URL Radio Button. Input the URL in format : https://dl.broadcom.com/<download-token>/PROD/COMP/VCENTER/vmw/8d167796-34d5-4899-be0a-6daade4005a3/<target-version>
  • Click on Save & wait for updates to be listed on VAMI UI.
• Go to the H5C UI & List Updates from the Update Planner UI.
• Select the target version that was provided in the custom URL and continue to run Prechecks.

Following are some examples :

• • If the source vLCM plugin is at version 80 U2 or 80 U3 (before P05) and planning to run major upgrade prechecks for version 9.0.0.0, then set the URL in VAMI as
    https://dl.broadcom.com/<download-token>/PROD/COMP/VCENTER/vmw/8d167796-34d5-4899-be0a-6daade4005a3/9.0.0.0
    
    
  • For major upgrade prechecks of version 9.0.0.0100, update the URL from https://dl.broadcom.com/<download-token>/PROD/COMP/VCENTER/vmw/8d167796-34d5-4899-be0a-6daade4005a3/9.0.0.0 to https://dl.broadcom.com/<download-token>/PROD/COMP/VCENTER/vmw/8d167796-34d5-4899-be0a-6daade4005a3/9.0.0.0100

Note: Updating target version URL is not required for minor upgrade/update prechecks. For example, update VC from version 8.0.2.00100 to 8.0.3.00100.
