Issue/Introduction

  • vLCM upgrade during RDU from UI fails if the target version is 9.0 and above. Below error message may appear

Failed to load repository manifest data for configured update.

Environment

vCenter Server 8.0 GA

vCenter Server 8.0 U1

Resolution

Update the custom URL to have to entitlement token & append the target version to the end of URL by following below steps:

  • Get the download token by following the KB Article - https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/390098#download_token.
  • Update the Custom URL on VAMI UI for the target version
    • Login into VAMI.
    • Go to the Updates section
    • Click on Settings & select the custom URL Radio Button. Input the URL in format : https://dl.broadcom.com/<download-token>/PROD/COMP/VCENTER/vmw/8d167796-34d5-4899-be0a-6daade4005a3/<target-version>
    • Click on Save & wait for updates to be listed on VAMI UI.
  • Go to the H5C UI & List Updates from the Update Planner UI.
  • Select the target version that was provided in the custom URL and  continue to run Prechecks & vLCM upgrade with this same version.

Sample scenario:

    • If the source VC is at version 8.0 GA or 8.0 U1 and planning to perform a major upgrade to version 9.0.0.0 using RDU, then the URL in VAMI need to be set as: https://dl.broadcom.com/<download-token>/PROD/COMP/VCENTER/vmw/8d167796-34d5-4899-be0a-6daade4005a3/9.0.0.0

Note: Updating target version URL is not required for minor version upgrade/update via RDU. For example, update VC from version 8.0.2.00100 to 8.0.3.00100 using RDU.
