vCenter patching failure - (Staging interrupted)

Issue/Introduction

Upon attempting to patch vCenter Serve after configuring VCF token on vCenter Appliance Management page you see the errors similar to below:

• "(Staging interrupted)"

 

• "Update installation failed. VCenter Server is non-operational."

 

• "Update is not staged"

 

 

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.x , 8.x

Cause

VCF authenticated download token does not detect you have any licenses for the target major release of vCenter due to entitlement issues which can be further verified from here

Resolution

Reach out to Broadcom Customer Support GCA/Licensing team to upgrade/downgrade your license version to the required version for patching. More info can be found here.
