Issue/Introduction

  • Add disk failed with the following error message in Aria Automation:  com.vmware.vim25.FileNotFoundFaultMsg: Error from vCenter: File [internalCluster-<cluster name>] <VM Name>/increase /home /tmp-.<ID #>.vmdk was not found, resulting in a detached appearing in the deployment.

Environment

Aria Automation 8.x

Cause

  • A user created a disk in Aria Automation to add space to an existing VM, but made an error while copying and pasting the name over. This lead to the disk being created, but not attached, resulting in the action actually failing.
  • The user is unable to delete the unattached disk.

Resolution

There are 2 options you can take to resolve this issue:

Option 1: Unregister the deployment. Once unregistered, then onboard that VM back into Aria Automation. This should bring the VM back into vRA without the detached disk appearing in the deployment canvas.

Option 2: Follow KB to update the deployment without having to unregister and onboard the VM back into vRA.
