Error when updating vCenter in vLCM "Error copying packages"

Issue/Introduction

• When trying to update a vCenter using the vLCM you get an error:

"Error copying packages"

• Errors in /var/log/vmware/applmgmt/update_mircoservice.log indicating issues with resolving the rpm location required for the vLCM repository is seen :

Environment

• VMware vCenter Server 7.x
• VMware vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

This is caused by a mismatch between the vCenter version and the version of the active license that was used to generate the repository token on the VCF Customer portal.

Resolution

• Ensure that the assigned license is compatible with your vCenter version by verifying its details under the "My Entitlements" section in the Broadcom Customer Portal.
• Open a case with the GCA team as per the kb below for assistance with any license issues.
