Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • vSAN Skyline Health check "NVMe device is VMware Certified" shows NVMe device as "Uncertified":

  • This NVMe device was previously certified and only recently has it been appearing as "Uncertified".

  • This issue is not specific to a single NVMe device model and appears for many.

  • If this health check's history is checked, it appears that the issue started since 2025-April-11.

  • This issue also affects the vSphere Lifecycle Manager hardware compatibility check:
    "Device is incompatible with the cluster"

Environment

VMware vSAN (All versions)

Cause

This issue was caused because the NVMe device's PCI ID (VID, DID, SVID, SDID) was missing under vSAN IO in the all.json file which was pushed on 2025-April-11.

Resolution

Update the local vSAN HCL DB to the latest version - Updating the vSAN HCL database manually.
