Issue/Introduction

Symantec, a leading Cyber Security Vendor, includes a feature that allows an organization to exchange sensitive data in a secure manner without the need to install any software or exchange any keys for encryption. This is done with the Web Email Protection (WEP) functionality, which is a secure web inbox similar designed to exchange information with only the organization hosting this service.

Once enrolled to your Web Email Protection account, any further email sent to you from such an organization is accessed through an internet browser, such as Chrome or Firefox.
For more information on how to use WEP, see the following article:

In addition to this, Secure PDF messages can be sent in lieu of storing messages in the secure inbox.  When a user converts from WEP to Secure PDF, a button appears. This article explains the button's purpose.

Resolution

If a Web Email Protection user has content in their inbox, the only way to access this is to login to their secure portal.

If the user converts their deliver preference to receive sensitive emails via Secure PDF Messenger instead, either they need to login to the portal to access the data, or they can click a button to resend all the content in the form of PDF Messenger emails.

Without converting from WEP to PDF Messenger, the user's inbox will not have the button:

Once the user changes their deliver preference to PDF Messenger, the button will then appear in their secure inbox:

When the button "Resend All Messages" is clicked, then any email content that is in the user's inbox, will all be resent.
This means if there are 100 emails in the inbox, they will all be resent, and will cause the PGP Encryption Server to initiate SMTP connections and send the messages out.

Testing this is recommended to ensure your current email flow will be able to accommodate this scenario.

Note: Net-new PDF Messenger users will not have this button, because their account originates without any content in the WEP inbox.
