Staging updates for an esxi cluster fails

Issue/Introduction

Attempting to stage an update to a esxi host in a vCenter cluster fails stating the error "Make sure the specified VIB exists and is accessible from vCenter Server"

The log file  /var/log/vmware/vmware-updatemgr/vum-server/vmware-vum-server.log in vCenter will display the following error 
"[#8] 2025-04-25T13:09:32.565-04:00 error vmware-vum-server[80693] [Originator@6876 sub=Default] [updateDownloaderImpl 116] File download error: Downloading file: https://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/vmtools-main/vmw-depot-index.xml failed, 0 byte downloaded."

Environment

vCenter 7.x

vCenter 8.x

Cause

hostupdate.vmware.com has been shutdown

Resolution

Convert vCenter to use a updated token based download URL
