Issue/Introduction

While creating Vm with windows 11, it shows below error on select Guest OS page:

Microsoft Windows 11 (64 bits) requires a virtual TPM device, which cannot be added to this virtual machine because the vSphere environments configured with a key provider.

Environment

VMware vCenter server 7.x

VMware vCenter server 8.x

Cause

By behaviour as there are prerequisites to run Windows 11 as guest on vSphere platform

Resolution

Windows 11 requires TPM 2.0. Running , Windows 11 as a virtual machine requires a virtual Trusted Platform Module to be present.

Virtual TPM devices require vSphere to be configured with a Key Provider. This is a prerequisite requirement before you can create a new VM with a vTPM device or add a vTPM device to an existing VM.

To resolve this issue:

Deploy Native key provider or external key providers on the vCenter server

Add a Standard Key Provider Using the vSphere Client

Configure a vSphere Native Key Provider
