In NSX Federation Nesting Service groups fails with the following error "Nesting NSX+ service /global-infra/services/service-name inside local manager service /global-infra/services/gm_service is not supported. (Error code: 500298)"

Issue/Introduction

• You may have recently failover over your active global manager cluster to standby. 
• Attempting to nest services fail with the following error "Nesting NSX+ service /global-infra/services/<service-name> inside local manager service /global-infra/services/<parent-service-name> is not supported. (Error code: 500298)"
• On the NSX Global Manager, you may see similar entries in the following file /var/log/syslog 

2025-04-11T09:02:52.079Z <nsx-manager-node-name> NSX 5056 POLICY [nsx@6876 comp="global-manager" errorCode="PM500298" level="ERROR" reqId="########-####-####-####-########37a7" subcomp="global-manager" username="<user>"] Nesting NSX+ service /global-infra/services/<service-to-be-nested> inside local manager service /global-infra/services/<parent-service-name> is not supported.

 

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center 3.x
VMware NSX 4.0.x, 4.1.x

Cause

This issue is due to PMaaS validation blocking nesting Local Manager services.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in VMware NSX 4.2, available at Broadcom downloads.
