VMware vSphere ESXi VMware vCenter Server

Issue/Introduction

  • The Skyline Health check shows a red alarm under vCenter > Monitor > Skyline Health > Network  > 'Hosts with duplicate IP addresses'

  • When "Hosts with duplicate IP addresses" health check triggers, the user should see the same IP address under the "Duplicate IP Address" section.

  • Running "esxcli network nic list" from ESXi SSH show similar output as below for "HPE Virtual NIC"

Environment

vCenter Server
HPE Servers only

Cause

HPE Virtual NIC interface appears in ESXi because on HPE iLO virtual NIC is enabled. This interface will typically be automatically configured with the IP address 16.1.15.2 from the DHCP server in iLO.
Refer HPE Virtual NIC Advisory

Resolution

  1. You can disable this HPE Virtual NIC from iLO. This will have no impact to ESXi. But please check with HPE Support and confirm if this will have any impact to iLO or HPE Servers.
Refer : How to disable HPE Virtual NIC from iLO

  2. As a temporary fix, you can choose "SILENCE ALERT" to ignore this alert.
