Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

The vSAN health check "Hosts with duplicate IP issues" shows a red alarm under "vSAN Cluster - Monitor - vSAN - Skyline health - Network Health - Hosts with duplicate IP issues."

 

When the "Hosts with duplicate IP issues" health check triggers, the user should see the same IP address under the "Duplicate IP" section.

Resolution

Q: What does the Network Health – Hosts with duplicate IP addresses check do?

This check ensures no duplicate IP addresses are configured on the vmknics among all hosts in the cluster. Any services that rely on the misconfigured interface might be affected by IP network connectivity issues.

Q: What does it mean when it is in an error state?

If this check fails, it means that the duplicate IP addresses are configured on different vmknics. The hosts and the VMkernel adapters names are displayed in the health check details.

Q: How does one troubleshoot and fix the error state?
