Missing appropriate permissions to view the licenses in the Broadcom Support Portal

Issue/Introduction

This article will help in understanding and rectifying the license permission issue.

When accessing My Entitlements and choose the licensing icon on VMware Products, users will be redirected to licensing section that shows all the licenses for that Site.

If you do not have permission to any or all folders, you will receive an error as Missing appropriate permissions to view.

Resolution

The issue can be resolved using one of the following approaches:

  • User Administrator, Product Administrator and users with permissions to manage the folders will have the option to add the users associated with the Site to the respective folders. They will be able to perform the actions in the Portal by referring to the article Manage Users and Permissions in the folders for VMware products.
  • If you are authorized to enroll yourself to be the Product Administrator and manage the license infrastructure and to elevate your access to Product Administrator, you may refer the Knowledge Base article on Request the Product Administrator role

Additional Information

  • Admins will be able to add the users to the folders, only if that User has access to the Site.
  • Admins can only add the users to the Site that has an active entitlement.
  • Users with permission to Manage Folder will be able to add the users to that specific folder to which they have this permission.
