Issue/Introduction

After successfully migrating VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle (LCM), VMware Aria Automation, and VMware Identity Manager to a new vCenter, the datacenter name in the UI still displays the old vCenter information.

Additionally, some products in the Environments section remain linked to the old vCenter, which prevents their deletion from the Datacenters view.

Environment

VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.x

Cause

When migrating to a new vCenter, if the environment links and datacenter references are not fully updated or removed, the system may retain outdated vCenter details. This can cause inconsistencies in the UI, preventing certain actions (e.g., deletions) from being successfully executed.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, follow these steps:

  1. Take a snapshot of LCM in vCenter: This ensures that no data is lost during the process.

  2. Export the current configuration.

  3. Remove the affected environment from LCM: This step ensures the environment is no longer associated with the old vCenter (Do not select the option to delete machines in vCenter to avoid data loss).

  4. Recreate the environment and import the updated configuration: Reimport the environment with the updated configuration that reflects the new vCenter.

  5. Perform an inventory sync.
