Issue/Introduction

  • Failed to Access VIDM, Error: "PKIX Path Validation failed...Could not validate certificate.."

Environment

VMware Identity Manager 3.3.X

Cause

  • The issue arises when the VIDM time is set ahead of the certificate's expiration date.
  • Or, when VIDM is not pointing to any time server.

Resolution

  • Here are the steps to validate the NTP settings in vIDM:Here are the steps to validate the NTP settings in vIDM: 
        1. Access the affected vIDM server via SSH.
        2. Execute the following command to retrieve the current NTP server details:

              /usr/local/horizon/scripts/ntpServer.hzn --get 

        3. If the command returns no value, it indicates that no time server has been configured.
  • Set right time server on VIDM as per: After changing the NTP server for vIDM the old settings are still displayed
