Unable to add a Remote Collector to Aria Operations

Issue/Introduction

When adding a Remote Collector to Aria Operations:

• The process is hanging and doesn't complete.
• The Data Sources > Integrations > Repository page displays a pop-up message reporting that a Management Pack is currently "installing".
• This error appears on the Remote Collector appliance in the log file /storage/vcops/log/pakManager/vcopsPakManager.root.validate.log:

2025-03-17T10:15:45 ERROR [30893] - vcopsPakManager.HandleError:576 - Exiting with exit code: 1, message: Pak has legacy format. Pak cannot be installed--exiting
  
  In the above example, the concerned Management Pack is an SNMP MP.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.6.3

Cause

A Management Pack is pending installation and hanging because of an incompatible format.

Resolution

1. It is recommended to take a snapshot before proceeding with the resolution. See KB 342576 on How to take a Snapshot of VMware Aria Operations.
2. Remove the incompatible Management Pack from the Repository page, then complete the installation by clicking on "FINISH ADDING NEW NODE(S)" on the Cluster Status page.
   If the Repository page keeps loading and the Management Pack removal is not possible, reboot the cluster then proceed with the above removal. Rebooting process can be found in KB 340318.
3. Remove the snapshot once the Remote Collector has been added and after verifying that the product works as expected.
