Issue/Introduction

vROPS or Aria Operations reporting One or more ESXi hosts in the cluster do not support CPU AES-NI or have it deactivated even though the feature is confirmed activated on all hosts. The vSAN Skyline Health check shows the check in Green status indicating no problem is present.

The alert may occur and clear on its own intermittently.

Screenshot of Aria Operations alert:

Environment

VMware vSAN monitored with vROPS or Aria Operations

Cause

The root cause is under investigation however the vSAN health logs show the status of the check change to "unknown" result which triggers the Aria operations alert:

FailedToGetHostEncryptionHealthResult, ''),
      Test hostcpuaesni health : unknown

Resolution

As the root cause of the check returning unknown status is not determined please take one of the following actions:

  • Silence the alert in vSAN Skyline health as per KB 326925

or

  • Open a case with VMware by Broadcom Support to investigate further

Additional Information
