Issue/Introduction

  • Cannot authenticate with AD accounts.
  • The file: /storage/core/loginsight/var/ui_runtime.log contains: "User login failure: Bad username/password attempt (username: admin)" but the password is correct.
  • The admin account does not show as locked as per Unlock the admin account, Option 1, from the KB: How to reset and unlock the local admin account in Aria Operations for Logs
  • Issue is reproducible using a different browser
  • Issue is reproducible when signing into the UI with the worker nodes with the local admin user and AD user
  • Running Aria Operations for Logs 8.18.0 GA release
  • UI is continuously spinning when signing in with any user as per the image below:

Resolution

Workaround 1:

  1. Take a snapshot of a cluster without a memory. How to take a Snapshot of VMware Aria Operations for Logs
  2. Reboot the cluster starting from Primary node.
  3. Wait for some time and tried to login to the UI. 

Workaround 2:

Manually upgrade to VMware Aria Operations for Logs 8.18 Hot Fix 1 using the procedure outlined in How to Manually Upgrade VMware Aria Operations for Logs via Command Line
