Issue/Introduction

  • No impact is observed in the environment.
  • Log lines similar to the below are encountered on the ESXi host in /var/run/log/vmkernel.log
vmkernel: cpu5:7755755)VmkAccess: 106: python3: running in nsxDatapathCtrsDom(81): socket = /var/run/nscd/socket (unix_stream_socket_connect): Access denied by vmkernel access control policy

Note: The preceding log excerpts are only examples. Date, time, and environmental variables may vary depending on your environment.

Environment

VMware ESXi 8.0

VMware NSX

Cause

"nsxDatapathCtrs" infrastructure's security domain was restricted and there was no access to /dev/char to specific files in /dev/char.

The warning logs seen in vmkernel.log do not restrict any functionality and can be safely ignored.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in VMware NSX 9.0, available at Broadcom downloads.

If you are having difficulty finding and downloading software, please review the Download Broadcom products and software KB.
