Environment
VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x
Cause
A corruption in datastore/partition usually reports these events of duplicate names and it can be observed in hostd, vmkernel, vmkwarning log.
Resolution
Reach out to Broadcom support for assistance Creating and managing Broadcom support cases.
Ensure sufficient backups of any impacted vms have been taken as appropriate (VM/App/file based backups) that reside relevant datastores.
Please check if we can snapshot the impacted backing LUN. This will allow VMware Support to run VOMA safely on a cloned LUN, keeping the original production LUN entirely untouched during the troubleshooting and recovery process.
If the corruption is on the OSDATA partition, then the solution is to reinstall the ESXi hosts.
