Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

When trying to unregister VR, it fails with below error even when there are no active replications.

Operation Failed Cannot unregister vSphere Replication Server 'xx' (IP address 'xx.xx.xx.xx') because replication tasks are running on it.
Operation ID: 05d5441c-7783-4805-aeab-d59f78bc7afd

Environment

vSphere Replication version: 8.x, 9.x

vCenter version: 7.x, 8.x

Cause

When hosts are registered with a vSphere Replication Appliance, their association is stored in the VR database (hbrhostentity table). The issue can occur if these host registrations remain in the database, even after stopping or deleting replications.

Host entries in the VR database (hbrhostentity table) maintain references to the vSphere Replication Server (hbrserverentity table). If these entries are not properly cleaned up after stopping replication tasks, the VR Server may still perceive these as active associations.

Resolution

If the above symptoms and issue matches, please contact Broadcom Support to investigate the issue.
