VMware NSX
SNMP is supported for use with NSX environments, however there are limitations with SNMP polling of NSX components such as NSX Manager and NSX Edge nodes.
SNMP Traps: NSX Manager and Edge Nodes are configured to generate SNMP notifications (traps) to registered SNMP managers whenever alarms are triggered or resolved. NSX MIBs can be found attached to BROADCOM-NSX-MIB
SNMP Polling: NSX SNMP polling is supported in a limited capacity with specific OIDs. This method does not provide comprehensive metrics such as CPU utilization, memory usage, or disk usage for NSX Manager and Edge nodes. The OID's supported for SNMP polling can be determined from the output of the 'snmpwalk' command, example below, ran against the NSX node. NSX MIBs can be found attached to BROADCOM-NSX-MIBsnmpwalk -v2c -c <COMMUNITY-STRING <EDGE-or-MANAGER-IP-ADDRESS>
snmpwalk -v2c -c <COMMUNITY-STRING> -M <PATH-TO-MIBS-FOLDER> <EDGE-or-MANAGER-IP-ADDRESS>
The OIDs supported for polling is changing further in VCF 9 and onwards. See the files attached to this KB for a list of these OIDs from VCF 9 NSX nodes.
