Issue/Introduction

Endpoints lose network connectivity after an upgrade of the Symantec Endpoint Security (SES) agent to 14.3 RU9.

System event logs may show the following:

"The network interface ""Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I217-LM"" has begun resetting.  There will be a momentary disruption in network connectivity while the hardware resets. Reason: 2. This network interface has reset xxxx time(s) since it was last initialized."

Environment

Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.3 RU9 (14.3.11213.9000)

Resolution

This issue is only applicable if Out-of-Band scanning is enabled under the Advanced Settings of the Intrusion Prevention policy. 

To resolve network connectivity, download and run the attached Intelligent Updater (exe) file on each of the affected clients.    

NOTE: Once the Intelligent Updater has been run, verification of successful application can be performed by checking that the SES client Network and Host Exploit Mitigation definitions are: June 21, 2024 r94 or later.  (Open SES and check the definitions listed under Network and Host Exploit Mitigation.)

 

SEP client 14.3 RU9, build 14.3.11216.9000, proactively solves this issue.
