Device gets into automaton but initial deployment fails to run a selected job

Issue/Introduction

Working with devices that get into automaton but the initial deployment fails to run an imaging job.

Environment

DS 8.7.2

Cause

Imported a unsupported version of Windows ADK 10.1.26100.1 (May 2024).

The bootwiz.log file shows the following error:

        Exit code: (20) 20 BDC_EXIT_INVALID_OS_TYPE - Invalid OS Type

May see other errors as listed in KB article Error: "ImportWinPE: Win PE version WinPE11 - x86 BCD install failed. Execution aborted. Error 1" when importing Windows ADK install of Windows 11

Resolution

From the Windows Control Panel > Program and Features uninstall the following:

• Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit version 10.1.26200.1 
• Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit Windows Preinstallation Environment Add-on version 10.1.26200.1 

From the Notification Server run through KB article Installing WinPE11 ADK for use in Deployment Solution 8.x and do the following:

• Download, install, and import a supported version of Windows ADK ( version 22H2 )
• Rebuild the preboot configuration
