"No space left on device" errors on Guest OS on compression-only mode diskgroups

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

Guest IOs fail with "No space left on device" when disk groups are configured with Compression-Only

Environment

VMware vSAN 7.0.x

Cause

It is rarely observed. This is due to vSAN LSOM has an upper limit for maximum deletes that it can process for a disk/DG. The default is set to 20 to allow a maximum of 20% deletes of total outstanding IOs for the cache device.

Resolution

Upgrade ESXi to 8.0U2 and later.
