How is the MinimumErrorRate value calculated in Smarts IP?

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Resolution

The MinimumErrorRate value is calculated based on the following parameters:
  • MaxTransferUnit: This value is calculated based on the MIB value ifMtu.

  • MaxSpeed: This value is calculated based on MIB value ifSpeed or ifHighSpeed.

  • ErrorTrafficThreshold: This value is the minimum error traffic expressed as a percentage of the total bandwidth to generate the HighErrorRate event. The HighErrorRate event indicates that the percentage of error packets for either input or output exceeds ErrorThreshold.

These values are dynamic and change based on performance metric OIDs polled by polled by Smarts.
