Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • You have more than 1000 IP Pools configured.
  • When installing NSX-T on a host to make it a transport node, you have chosen IP Assignment as IP Pool.
  • When you attempt to select the desired IP Pool form the list presented, you are unable to find the desired IP Pool.

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center
VMware NSX-T Data Center 3.x

Cause

The configuration uses API calls to gather data.
API calls have a default limit of 1,000 results.
When there is more than 1,000 IP Pools, it is unable to present all entries.

Resolution

This is a known issue impacting NSX-T.

Workaround:
The IP Pools are sorted in an ascending alphabetical order.
When configuring a host, to ensure you see the desired IP Pool, prior to install, rename the pool, so it is starts with a letter which will appear in the first 1,000 entries.
For example, here we change the pool name from "Pool_TEP" to "A_Pool_TEP", so that the IP Pool will now be higher on the presented list.
