Issue/Introduction
- When migrating a VM in vCenter Server by changing its storage policy, the process fails with following error:
Error Message: The operation is not supported on the object. Changing or applying VM Storage Policies with Data Service capabilities during migrate operations is disallowed. VM Storage Policies with Data Service capabilities can be assigned to the provisioned VM after the migrate operation has been completed and before the VM has been powered on.

Unable to relocate VM - The operation is not supported on the object' and the underlying svMotion task fails in the vCenter Server with error mentioned above.

Cause
A storage policy was applied to the VM in question, and the storage policy was then altered or removed, but the VM still has references to the storage policy that was modified.
Resolution
Another storage policy needs to be applied to the affected virtual machine. Once this storage policy applies, all disks should have a consistent storage policy that correlates correctly on the backend. Then reset the storage policy to datastore default if that is what the VM was originally on.
