This article provides steps to modify the domain name resolution settings of VMware Aria Operations and VCF Operations 9.0.x appliances. DNS settings are controlled by vApp properties; OS-level changes made to /etc/resolv.conf are overwritten during the appliance boot sequence or service restart.
In VCF 9.0 and later, systemd-resolved enforces the networking configuration defined in the OVF environment/vApp options.
The guest OS treats vApp properties as the authoritative source, causing local configuration files to be discarded.
To resolve this issue and ensure persistent DNS settings, update the vApp properties in vCenter:
