Restoring the vApp properties in VMware Aria Operations 8.12 and Below

Issue/Introduction

VMware Aria Operations (formerly known as vRealize Operations) depends on accurate vApp properties in order to boot and configure its network.
In some cases, such as restore from backup or disaster recovery using SRM, those properties might get lost.
This article describes how to restore the vApp properties of VMware Aria Operations 8.12 and Below.

Resolution

Ensure the VMware Aria Operations cluster is offline before proceeding:

1. Log in to the VMware Aria Operations admin UI as the local admin user.
   
   Example: https://IP_or_FQDN/admin
   
   Note: Replace IP_or_FQDN with actual IP or FQDN of VMware Aria Operations.
    
2. Click Take Offline under Cluster Status.
   
   Note: Wait for Cluster Status to show as Offline.

Procedure for re-creating the vApp properties using the vCenter UI:

1. Log into the vCenter UI as an Administrator.
2. Right-Click the VMware Aria Operations node VM and select Power > Shut Down Guest OS.
3. Right-Click the VMware Aria Operations node VM and select Edit Settings.
4. Navigate to the vApp Options tab.
5. Check Enable vApp options.
6. Under Authoring, expand Product and set Name to VMware Aria Operations Appliance.
7. Expand IP allocation and set the IP protocol to IPv4 or IPv6 (if you are using IPv6).
8. Expand OVF settings and set the OVF environment transport to VMware Tools.
9. Expand Properties then click on the New button to create a new property.
10. Create the property in accordance to the attached vropsvappproperties.xlsx spreadsheet.
11. Click OK.
12. Repeat steps 9-11 for all properties in the attached vropsvappproperties.xlsx spreadsheet.
13. Expand Networking Properties and configure the correct DNS, Default Gateway, Network IP Address, and Network Netmask.
14. Expand Application and check IPv6 (if you are using IPv6) and configure the correct Timezone setting.
15. Click OK.
16. Repeat steps 2-15 on all other affected VMware Aria Operations nodes.
17. Power on the VMware Aria Operations VMs.
18. Log in to VMware Aria Operations admin UI as the local admin user.

Note: Replace IP_or_FQDN with actual IP or FQDN of VMware Aria Operations.

19. Click Bring Online under Cluster Status.
    
    Note: Wait for the Cluster Status to show as Online.
