Cannot change the port group on vSwitch setting to “Inherit from vSwitch” on ESXi 7.0

Issue/Introduction

• vSwitch port group cannot be changed to  “Inherit from vSwitch” on ESXi 7.0.
• Applying the change from the ESXi Host UI does not reflect the changes.
• Applying the change from the vCenter UI reverts back to the previous settings once the vCenter UI is refreshed

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0.3
VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0.2

Resolution

This issue is resolved in VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0 Update 3o (Build 22348816)

To workaround this issue, override the policy with the same settings as the vSwitch, without using the  “Inherit from vSwitch” setting.

 

Note: Editing the configstore is not recommended.
