Unable to remove the HA VIP address from a T0 or vrf T0 Gateway

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Tier-0 or vrf Tier-0 gateway has a HA VIP address configured.
• Deleting the HA VIP address shows success: Tier-0 Gateway <name> updated successfully.

• Then checking the status of the Tier-0 Gateway we see the status in a Failed state.

• Clicking on the Failed state we see error: java.lang.NullPointerException

 

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center 3.x
VMware NSX-T Data Center

Cause

NSX-T maintains a flag which is used to track the HA VIP which is created by the user, this issue occurs when the HA VIP is removed, the flag is not reset.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in VMware NSX-T Data Center 3.1.1, available at Broadcom Downloads.

Workaround:

Remove and recreate the Tier-0 Gateway without the HA VIP address.
