Issue/Introduction

Creating custom firewall rules in ESXi is not supported.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.x

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x

Resolution

The only supported way to open up additional ports is through a partner-created VIB to modify the ESXi firewall.
In the above sentence, the "partner" is the entity that has suggested that ports not already open by default for ESXi, be opened.
Please contact the relevant partner/vendor for any assistance with that process.
