During an IPL, and as the CAMaster Address Space is initialized,a Logrec error “PIDS/CATARGHW FLDS/CPUTYPE RIDS/UNKNOWN RIDS/CAMASTER” may be noticed after an upgrade to any of these IBM zEnterprise machine types.
CAMASTER includes a processor table; a feature setting that other Broadcom products or solutions can potentially check and optimize their code path depending upon the processor capabilities. However, at the moment, Broadcom development are unaware of any product that uses this information. Therefore, this processor table plays no part in the normal functionality of CAMASTER or any Broadcom product that uses CAMASTER. Despite any of these messages being issued, the CAMASTER and the other Broadcom products will successfully initialize and continue to operate routinely.
If issued, and depending upon the machine type, customers will receive the following message written to LOGREC:
“PIDS/CATARGHW FLDS/CPUTYPE RIDS/UNKNOWN RIDS/CAMASTER”
Common Services for z/OS r15.0 executing on a z15 or z16 processor.
The new machine type is not found in the current processor table.
As the specific machine type is not included in the CAMASTER processor table, and in order to prevent the message from being issued, apply the appropriate maintenance based upon the machine type as listed:
A detailed description of the CAMASTER component is found in the Common Services r15.0 documentation under "CA Master Address Space"
