Issue/Introduction

  • From ESXi host syslog:

Empty/Invalid MP clutser configuration in config file
Ensure MPA is registered with NSX Manager

  • On ESXi host:

/etc/vmware/nsx-mpa/mpaconfig.json is blank <- not populated with NSX-T Manager details as expected

  • ESXi host is unable to connect to the NSX-T Manager via https and RabbitMQ

nc -zv NSX-T_Manager_IP_address 5671 . < connection times out and fails, don't receive succeeded message
nc -zv NSX-T_Manager_IP_address 443 . < connection times out and fails, don't receive succeeded message

Environment

VMware NSX-T

Cause

It is possible that NSX-T Manager is unreachable from ESXi hosts in the environment, where NSX-T Manager resides within an NSX-V Prepared cluster. In this scenario, NSX-T Manager(s) do not get automatically added to the hosting NSX-V DFW Exclusion list. This is because NSX-T manager(s) are not "Service VMs" inside of the NSX-V environment.

Resolution

Add NSX-T Manager(s) to the hosting NSX-V DFW Exclusion list.
