Issue/Introduction

Allocate dynamic JVM memory when facing performance issues in Solr

Environment

• Carbon Black EDR Server: 6.2.3 and Higher

Resolution

1. Open the cb.conf file to edit: 

   vi  /etc/cb/cb.conf 

2. Add to the bottom: 

   EnableDynamicJvmMemoryAllocation=true

3. Restart services

Additional Information

• Display Solr stats, including heap memory

  • curl "http://localhost:8080/solr/admin/info/system?wt=json"

• EDR runtime settings (includes % heap memory)

  • /usr/share/cb/virtualenv/bin/python -m cb.maintenance.cballocate.main -i solr
