Issue/Introduction

After installing PGP Encryption Desktop (Drive Encryption) or Symantec Endpoint Encryption (SEE Drive Encryption) on certain systems, the systems may not boot up.

There may be fear the system data is lost, but in this case, the information is just fine, but may not boot with a setting activated. 

 

Environment

Dell Latitude 7430/7440/5540

Lenovo L14


 

Resolution

To fix this issue:

1. Boot into the BIOS of the system. In this example, we are looking at a Dell BIOS.

2. Make note of the BIOS version and check that Secure Boot is enabled.

3. Navigate to the "Boot Configuration" option.

4. Enable the option "Enable Microsoft UEFI CA" to allow third-party EFI boot loaders.

5. Once the settings have been saved, reboot the system, which should now successfully boot.
