Error: Could not figure out what Linux version you are running during cdm probe deployment

Issue/Introduction

When deploying the cdm probe to a Linux server (e.g., RHEL 9.x, Ubuntu 22.04), the probe successfully deploys but does not appear in the Infrastructure Manager (IM) or Admin Console (AC).

The controller.log on the robot contains the following error: Controller: Could not figure out what Linux version you are running!

 

 

 

Environment

• DX Unified Infrastructure Management  23.4
• Robot version 9.33 and earlier
• RHEL 9.x, Ubuntu 22.04, or other recent Linux distributions

 

Cause

Older robot versions (< 9.36) use explicit distribution checks that do not recognize newer Linux releases. Starting with UIM 20.4 CU4, robots transitioned to Glibc-based certification to allow for implicit support of newer distributions

Resolution

Upgrade the robot to version 9.36 or higher.

1. Download the latest robot version from the Broadcom Support Portal.
2. Deploy the robot_update package to the impacted server.
3. In some instances, a full re-installation of the robot may be required to correctly register the probes.
