Issue/Introduction

After attempting to re-register the E2K7PS.dll file for the Identity Manager Exchange Agent, the system may continue to utilize the previous version of the DLL. This discrepancy typically occurs when the Windows Registry retains duplicate or legacy references to the file, preventing the agent from loading the updated version.

Environment

Identity Manager 14.x

Cause

The issue is caused by duplicate entries in the Windows Registry that continue to reference the older version of E2K7PS.dll. The system fails to update the reference during re-registration because the registry path points to the outdated file path or version details.

Resolution

To resolve this version mismatch, you must ensure the registry references the correct DLL.

Step 1: Inspect Registry References

  1. Open the Windows Registry Editor (regedit).
  2. Search for all references to E2K7PS.dll.
  3. Verify the entries. There should only be two references, both pointing to the correct, updated version of the DLL.
  4. If the version details in the registry do not match the version of the DLL file on disk, proceed to Step 2 or Step 3.

Step 2: Re-register the DLL If the registry entries are incorrect, attempt to unregister and re-register the DLL:

Step 3: Perform a Clean Reinstallation If re-registration fails to resolve the issue:

  1. Navigate to the Windows Control Panel.
  2. Uninstall the Identity Manager Exchange Agent.
  3. Perform a clean reinstallation of the Exchange Agent. This process will purge stale registry entries and ensure a clean reference to the updated E2K7PS.dll file.
