Recovering an admin password for the Control Center
- Attempt to log into the SMG Control Center as the account you want to recover
- After the login failure, Click the "Forgot your password?" link
- Enter the username of the account you wish to recover.
An email with a one-time link will be sent to the email address associated with the account, which allows the account holder to change their password.
Note: The password recovery requires that the administrator account is configured with a valid, deliverable email address.
If the password recovery email cannot be delivered by the SMG Control Center, the admin password cannot be recovered; the system will need to be factory reset or reinstalled to set a new administrator password.
Recovering the admin password for a Messaging Gateway Scanner
There is currently no password recover mechanism for a Scanner only system but the password may be reset through the following process:
- In the Control Center go to Administration > Version > Factory Reset
- Select the scanner to recover from the host pulldown and click Reset
- Go to Administration > Configuration and remove the scanner host from the Control Center
- Complete the bootstrap of the system with new password and previous network information
- Add the Scanner back to the Control Center via the Administation > Configuration > Add Scanner wizard
