Issue/Introduction

  1. Project won't open in Microsoft Project (MSP) (hangs on opening XML).
  2. Reviewing the XML, the XML fully loads (</Project> tag is displayed at end of project)
  3. The project may not be found in the prdocument table if it hasn't been saved back successfully before.
  4. After first time opening it where it hangs, you will see the following message generate prior to it hanging.
  • The last time you opened 'ProjectID' it caused a serious error" when attempting to open a project from Clarity - this is a side effect of any crashing issue (See KB: 140119 for more details on this error)

Environment

Release : 15.5.1

Component : CA PPM SAAS MICROSOFT PROJECT (MSP)

Resolution

 1. Check if project will open successfully from another workstation:

  • If yes, verify data is okay, then save the project back to Clarity.
  • This will allow all users to be able to open the project

OR

  2. If you have a backup copy saved on the workstation with the current data, try saving that copy back to PPM and verify if the project then opens successfully.

If the above doesn't help, please contact Broadcom support for assistance

Workaround:

  • Delete the most recent baseline in Clarity
