MSP Project hangs on opening to XML for a project recently baselined in Clarity

Issue/Introduction

Reviewing the XML, the XML fully loads (</Project> tag is displayed at end of project). The project may not be found in the prdocument table if it hasn't been saved back successfully before. After first time opening it where it hangs, you will see the following message generate prior to it hanging. 

"The last time you opened 'ProjectID' it caused a serious error" when attempting to open a project from Clarity may also be seen (See KB: MSP Error: "The last time you opened 'ProjectID' it caused a serious error..." for more details on this error.)

Resolution

  1. Check if project will open successfully from another workstation:
    • If yes, verify data is okay, then save the project back to Clarity. 
    • This will allow all users to be able to open the project
  2. Alternatively, if you have a backup copy saved on the workstation with the current data, try saving that copy back to Clarity and verify if the project then opens successfully.

Workaround: Delete the most recent baseline in Clarity
