Issue/Introduction
How can you get to the various Clarity logs such as app-ca.logs, bg-ca.logs, and bg-dwh.logs?
Clarity logs can benefit in troubleshooting various issues, some examples including:
- An error is generated within Clarity
- Job or process failures
- Errors in saving projects back from Open Workbench (OWB) and Microsoft Project (MSP).
Resolution
Method 1 (On Premise and SaaS (On Demand)): Security Logs page in Clarity
- Log in to Clarity as an Administrator.
- Replace everything after action: in the URL with security.logs.
Example: Change http://localhost:1530/niku/nu#action:homeActionId to http://localhost:1530/niku/nu#action:security.logs
- From the Log File drop down, select the log you wish to view (Example app-ca.log).
- Change the Max Size to a larger size dependent on the amount of data you need to view.
- Click Go
Notes
- The latest log information will display at the bottom.
- If your environment has multiple servers, change the server from the Server drop down to view the logs from an additional server.
- To Download the entire log, click the Download file (this is useful particularly if providing a file to support).
Method 2 (On Premise) - CA PPM System Administration (CSA)/NSA Log Viewer
- Log in to CSA
- Click on the Logs icon next to the server in the Server list
- From the Log File drop down, select the log you wish to view (Example app-ca.log)
- Change the Max Size to a larger size dependent on the amount of data you need to view
- Click Go
Method 3 (On Premise) - In the Clarity Home/logs folder
Logs can also be found by accessing the logs folder found on the Clarity server in your Clarity Home directory.
