When installing Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition cloud (SEP SBE cloud) on a virtual machine (VM) running Windows Server 2016 or later, the install completes and prompts for a reboot, and a Windows Message pops up saying "A digitally signed driver is required"
"Program Compatibility Assistant
A digitally signed driver is required
Symantec EPSec Flt Endpoint Driver
Windows blocked the installation of a digitally unsigned driver. Uninstall the program or device that uses the driver and check the publisher's website for a digitally signed version of the driver."
Symantec EPSec Flt Endpoint Driver has a valid digital signature, however it does not meet the additional Driver Signing and Certificate checks introduced by Microsoft in Windows 10 and Server 2016.
This driver is part of a deprecated Security Virtual Appliance that is no longer supported. However, the SEP 12.1 installer checks to see if VMWare Guest Introspection Driver is installed, and will attempt to install this driver if present. Windows will block the installation of the Symantec EPSec Flt Endpoint Driver.
Windows Server 2016 and later
The SEP SBE cloud installation has completed successfully. The error displayed is benign, and the protection posture of the agent is not affected.
Click Close to dismiss the message, and restart the computer to finalize any remaining installation tasks.
