Resolution

This occurs because the credentials used are not authorized on the Content Filtering database.

There are several steps needed to rectify this issue.

  1. Go to Management Console > Content Filtering > Select the content filter that you use
  2. Re-enter the content filtering username.
  3. Re-enter the content filtering password.
  4. For some content filters, such as Smart Filter, re-enter the license key.
  5. Download the database.
  6. If you are still getting a 401 error, then most likely the license has expired.
Check your license contract/entitlement for the expiration date or open a customer care support case from the Support Portal to check the license status.
