The upgrade process for Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) 14.0 fails and rolls back with an SQLException during the database schema upgrade.
The SEPM Upgrade-0.log or install_log.err file would contain the error.
STDERR: SQL Exception:
STDERR: SQL Command: WITH DATE_RANGE AS ( SELECT CAST('2000-01-01' AS DATETIME) ...
STDERR: SQLState: S0003
STDERR: Message: The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value.
STDERR: Vendor: 242
The error occurs if the MSSQL server DATEFORMAT setting is DMY rather than MDY.
This SQL command can find the current setting:
select DATEFORMAT from sys.syslanguages where name = @@LANGUAGE;
