Using a USB drive to recover a drive is limited to computers running Windows 8 and above.

Caution: Once you have started to decrypt a disk or partition using a USB drive for recovery, do not stop the decryption process. The time to decrypt a disk depends on the size of the disk and the decryption process may take a considerable amount of time. A faster way to decrypt the drive is to use another system that has the same version of Symantec Drive Encryption installed on it.
